We have to employ security to watch security. An all too common problem in South Africa? I think not. If it was the case then why are so many security products being imported into one of the most technically advanced countries in the world? It would seem that our crime problems are of a global scale. Meaning, the so called first world countries have had the problem for so long that they have had to develop electronic surveillance equipment, that keeps a watch on the very people entrusted to watch over property and valuables. South Africa has been praised for a successful FIFA Soccer World Cup, showing the rest of the world that we can do it. We have the infrastructure to “pull it off”. The issue of security was questioned and has been answered. Why then the losses, from the small entrepreneur to the multi-national corporate companies, if we are so “jacked-up” with security. We have to take a page out of the book of the first world and apply the same technologies to the problems now facing the Security Industry.
